With the three-day weekend bringing many climbers, seven people were lost on Mt. Yari, one of whom was injured. "It collapsed..." This video was taken by a climber at Karasawa Cirque in the Northern Alps around 5:20 PM on the 19th. White dust can be seen rising in several places. Just before this footage was captured, a magnitude 4 earthquake was observed in the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture, which is believed to have caused rockfalls and other incidents in various parts of the Northern Alps. Of these, six people, including a party of three men and women from Aichi Prefecture, were pinned down by falling rocks on Mount Yari and requested police rescue on the 19th. On the 20th, the prefectural police rescued the three Aichi residents by helicopter. No one was injured. A rescued man from Aichi Prefecture said: "It was scary. We were walking a variation route called Kitakama. A rock fell on the route we had walked five or ten minutes earlier. We set up our tent at a place called Dokubetsu Col, took a rest, and ate some food. Then, all of a sudden, there was this shaking, this huge noise, this rattle. I looked out the tent and saw rocks falling and a cloud of dust. Aftershocks continued until around 7 or 8 o'clock, and with each aftershock we heard the sound of rocks falling. I was worried about making a careless move and causing a secondary disaster, so I called for a helicopter, even though I felt bad about it." The remaining three people managed to descend the mountain on their own. Meanwhile, on the 20th, the police received a call reporting that a 61-year-old man from Tokyo had been injured by falling rocks, and they were rescued by helicopter. The victim's life is not in danger. Fourteen earthquakes with a seismic intensity of 1 or higher were observed between the 19th and 20th, with the epicenter at roughly the same location.
