Riga is back at Aberdeen Airport. I Was on the FIRST airBaltic Flight from Riga to Aberdeen!

#airbaltic #airbus #a220 #airbusa220 #takeoff #aviation #aberdeen #riga June 2nd marked the return of the summer seasonal airBaltic flights connecting Aberdeen to Riga. The route itself has a troubled history. Originally launched in 2014 but was cancelled after only a few months. The route then returned on May 2nd 2017 and had more success until covid paralysed the entire aviation industry. The route returned for the 3rd time in 2022 and ran until the end of the summer season in 2024. Sadly due to the ongoing Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engine issues and a shortage of aircraft the route did not return for the 2025 summer season. Come summer 2026 the route is back again and hopefully it is here to stay as a summer seasonal or potentially it'll become year sound some time.
