Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston Talk Brotherhood at Thor World Premiere

Thor's hammer landed in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday (October 22) for the world premiere of the second in the superhero thunder god franchise, "Thor: The Dark World." The film sees the two divine brothers Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) reunite again but this time they aren't fighting each other but instead working together to save the Nine Realms of Norse mythology from the dark elf Malekith. The premiere also marked a reunion for the on-screen brothers in reality, when they bumped into each other on the red carpet. When asked if they now, after three films playing brothers, feel like family, Hemsworth said "We've adopted him. He's one of the Hemsworths. He's handy. We've given him a card, we've given him a badge." However, Hiddleston was quick to interject "I'm like the runt of the litter." The premiere's red carpet covered almost half of Leicester Square and was crammed with fans trying to get a glimpse of the superhero actors. For Hemsworth, this brought a bit of solace. "Oh look, it's the third time around playing the character, there's certainly a slight sense of ownership with it but you always have the same anxiety and coming here and seeing this kind of crowd, it puts that to sleep a bit and then you feel a little more confident that you've done the right thing. I just feel lucky to be part of this, this Marvel madness, it's amazing," he said. Also, returning to the franchise are Thor's love interest Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, and her eccentric crew of scientists, including Dr Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard), Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), and newcomer Ian 'The Intern' Boothby (Jonathan Howard). Portman tried to explain the appeal by saying "I think the films have been really really made with a sense of fun and humour and audiences have really responded to that and I also think Chris and Tom and all the cast have been so specific with their characters and I think that people have really responded to them." Idris Elba also returns as Heimdall, the all-seeing guardian of Asgard. Elba has been enjoying huge success internationally with the TV series as well as praise for his portrayal as Nelson Mandela in "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom." Speaking of his recent success, he said "It's a blessing, it's a massive blessing to see that after a long time of working as an actor and just trying to job, that you're getting into a place of recognition. But I'll tell you what, man, it's harder work and it's deeper work and it stretches me more but I'm loving it, I'm loving it." Outside of the movie world, Hiddleston has been recently going viral on the internet by doing impressions of other actors as his character Loki. "The first one I was asked to do was a Q and A in Sydney in front of an audience of 400 and I didn't know it was going to be seen by the internet. I've always done impressions actually ever since I was a kid, long before I was an actor. It's just what I do, it's like a silly game that I play. Maybe I'm just a shameless exhibitionist, I don't know," explained Hiddleston. After which, he proceeded in doing an impersonation of Thor as Loki - one that he quickly labelled 'rubbish' and 'terrible'. "Thor: The Dark World" goes on release in Europe from October 30th and will be released in the United States on November 8th.
