Jeju dialect (or Jeju language 제주말) is the most unique dialect (사투리) in Korean, as over 75% of its vocabulary can’t be found in standard Korean. Jeju island has a long history of trade and exchange between other neighboring countries which influenced not only its language but also its culture. In this video I’ll cover Jeju and its history, how the language diverged so much from standard Korean, as well as talk about its unique vocabulary, grammar, and more.
