This story, full of threats, shootings, attacks and court files, brought one of Turkey's biggest artists face to face with one of the most feared names in the underworld. “I’ll put you in a car accident… I’ll make those mafia bosses behind you look like wimps…” These words belonged to Abdullah Uçmak, one of the dark figures of the mafia world. He openly threatened İbrahim Tatlıses, not even hiding his anger in front of cameras. This animosity, which lasted for years, was not limited to words. Guns spoke, bullets were fired, and courts were established. Born in Adana in 1970, Abdullah Uçmak began to make a name for himself at a young age thanks to his clashes with local gangs in Adana. His tough nature, aggressive demeanor, and fearlessness quickly made him known in the underworld. Due to the feuds he experienced in the 1990s, he moved to Istanbul. With his arrival in Istanbul, his name began to be associated with much larger criminal activities. By the 2000s, Abdullah Uçmak was considered one of the leaders of one of Turkey’s largest criminal organizations. The organization’s name was associated with drug trafficking, arms smuggling, kidnapping, and organized crime. Uçmak, who had become one of the most wanted names by security forces, was also a key target of police operations. So how did the animosity between Abdullah Uçmak and İbrahim Tatlıses begin? Actually, it all started with the falling out between İbrahim Tatlıses and his former manager, Hasan Bora. By January 23, 1998, events had spiraled out of control. On that day, İbrahim Tatlıses and his men allegedly shot at Bora Production, owned by Hasan Bora, in Levent, Beşiktaş. Abdullah Uçmak, known for his closeness to Hasan Bora, was also present at the scene. He was one of those injured in the shooting. Following this incident, a lawsuit was filed against six people, including İbrahim Tatlıses' son Ahmet Selçuk Tatlı and his brother Hüseyin Tatlı. However, the events did not end there. Just one week after the shooting, on January 31, 1998, an armed attack was carried out on the Tatlıses Group of Companies located in the Ayazağa Trade Center. Shots were fired randomly inside. The tension between the parties had now escalated into an open war. Abdullah Uçmak was later tried for allegedly instigating the armed attack on the car carrying İbrahim Tatlıses on May 19, 1998. He was sentenced to imprisonment, but this sentence was later commuted to a fine and suspended. The events continued for years. On January 5, 1999, Hasan Bora was attacked. İbrahim Tatlıses was among those detained after the incident, but he was later released. In 2000, Abdullah Uçmak was injured in an armed attack. It was alleged that İbrahim Tatlıses was behind this attack. Thus, the animosity between the two sides grew even more. On one side, one of Turkey's most famous artists… On the other, one of the most feared names in the underworld… And a dark war that lasted for years… By the 2000s, the war between Abdullah Uçmak and İbrahim Tatlıses had reached a point of no return. Shootings, threats, court cases, and harsh statements broadcast on television… This tension between one of Turkey’s most famous artists and one of the most feared figures in the underworld was growing. In 2003, Abdullah Uçmak was tried again, this time on charges of “forming a criminal organization for profit and extorting money from İbrahim Tatlıses through threats.” During that period, his name frequently appeared in organized crime cases in operations conducted by security forces. On January 14, 2003, a stolen car was stopped on the Gaziosmanpaşa connecting road of the TEM Highway. A Kalashnikov rifle, three magazines, a pistol, and a ski mask were seized from the four people in the vehicle. Allegedly, this attack was planned against İbrahim Tatlıses, and it was claimed that Abdullah Uçmak had directed his men for this event. However, Abdullah Uçmak denied the accusations. His lawyer, Ekrem Demirel, stated that his client had no connection to the seized weapon. Uçmak claimed that he had no connection to the vehicle used in the incident. He even stated that he had rented a car from the same company, but the car used in the attack was not the one he had rented.
