Changing the Installer Code Using a Tuxedo Touch Keypad

In this video, Jorge shows users how they can change the Installer Code for a Honeywell VISTA Alarm System using a Tuxedo Touch Keypad. The Tuxedo Touch is a touchscreen keypad that has a console mode for making programming changes. This mode allows the device to operate like an Alphanumeric Keypad. The Installer Code is the code used for making programming changes. You need this code to enter programming. This is necessary for adding and deleting sensors and for making adjustments to the system's settings. You can only Disarm using the Installer Code if you use it to Arm the system in the first place. For security purposes, you should only Arm your system using your Master Code or a valid user code. Alarm Grid does not recommend changing your Installer Code. You should keep it at the default of 4112. This way, you are less likely to ever become locked out of programming. Even if you happen to forget the default code, you can always look it up later. If you change your code and forget it, then you will need to use the backdoor method to get back in. This works well enough, but it is rather inconvenient. The best option is to keep the code at its default and avoid getting locked out of programming in the first place. To change the Installer Code, you will need to enter programming. This is done through the command [Current Installer Code] + 800. The programming field to change the Installer Code is actually the default programming field. But it's still a good idea to enter [*20] to confirm the field. You can then enter the desired four-digit code of your choosing to change the code. Remember, we do not recommend doing this.
