【MH4U】Treasure Room Farming Method

A step-up from phone cameras, for certain. If I don't get beshackled weapons, my average run time is 90 seconds. If I do, it's about 180 seconds. Around 7 swings of the pickaxe are the average per attempt. If the mining chance is 7%, then the chance of getting AT LEAST ONE beshackled weapon/armor is 1- 0.93^7 = 39.82%. Out of 100 attempts, I got exactly 40 beshackled weapons. The math checks out, 1 beshackled weapon every 2nd or 3rd attempt. The total runtime for the 100 attempts adds up to 3.5 hours. The left number represents the amount of beshackled weapons, the right number represents the amount of times I mined (swings of the pickaxe, not the number of nodes) https://pastebin.com/MBCkPWLe After about 80 attempts I switched to another guild quest, which only has 2 blue nodes in the treasure room. That's another factor of RNG I didn't address in the video: exits can be blocked, this is pure RNG of the guild quest you happen to have. Do yourself a favour and only level quests with a fully stocked treasure room (and a short distance between camp and treasure room, as well as no cancerous maps like the desert valley). You can do about 5-6 attempts before you would have reasonably beat the quest in multiplayer (with a risk of failure and long waits in between quests). Doing quests properly doesn't preclude you from mining treasure areas, of course. So in terms of relics per time unit, this method is pretty efficient. Bottom line it's a matter of preference. The way I look at it is, if you don't have internet or you're in a train/bus to work, or just lying in bed being a lazy fuck, you can squeeze in some relic farming this way.
