Somanath says that ancient India (Bharat) was a centre of learning and scholars from faraway places used to come here for education. Somanath says that what we call 'purana' is actually treasure troves of knowledge and that people who has knowledge were considered to be 'Rishis'. Knowledge was recorded in the form of poems and literature in those days, the former ISRO chairman says.
