CREEK FISHING for BIG Smallmouth Bass with A-Rigs!

A nasty cold front rolled through and completely changed the bite on this Ohio River feeder creek. I hit the water expecting a good day, but the smallmouth bass had other plans. Even with live bait, getting bites was a challenge, and every fish had to be earned. After grinding it out, I finally connected with a quality smallmouth and a handful of smaller fish, proving that persistence can still pay off when conditions are tough. A couple days later, warmer temperatures moved in, and I launched the kayak back into the same creek. The difference was unbelievable. The smallmouth bass were feeding, and the Alabama Rig (A-Rig) absolutely started producing. What was a struggle just days before turned into one of those days where every cast felt like it could get crushed.
