地震発生時 横浜駅前付近

Yokohama station and surrounding areas at the time of the earthquake. The Japanese text is followed by an English translation. Footage capturing the moment an earthquake struck Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture (filmed near the west exit of JR Yokohama Station). It measured a seismic intensity of 5+. Around 2:50 p.m., a Fuji TV staff member who happened to be in a building near the station filmed the footage with a handheld camera. Sensing the earthquake, they turned the camera outside and saw cracks already appearing on the pavement in front of them, screams ringing out, and people running for their lives. The multi-tenant building across the street shook violently from side to side, making creaking noises, and every pane of glass was moving as if it were about to fall. Sensing something unusual, the staff member, who had been filming, ran down the building's stairs and outside. Many people evacuated the building, and the shopping district was in chaos. Scars of the earthquake remained everywhere. In front of a large supermarket, a long, huge crack in the ground stretches along the pavement. Just when it seemed the earthquake had subsided, another large aftershock struck, causing chaos in the surrounding area. The large pillars supporting the supermarket were also found to be floating in the air due to cracks in the ground at their bases, and were shaking unsteadily. The series of shocks caused the shopping district to be filled to the brim with people. Footage: Capture of the earthquake from the moment of its occurrence in Yokohama city, Kanagawa (Shot from near JR Yokohama station west exit) A strong 5 on the JMA seismic intensity scale. Around 2:50 p.m., a Fuji TV staff is at the scene, coincidentally with a hand held camera. Sensing the earthquake, the camera is pointed outside. The pavement out front has cracked, screams fly past each other and people are running to escape. The building across the street is greatly swaying sideways and creaking. Its glass is barely holding on, moving together with the swaying. Realizing the abnormal situation, the staff holding the camera runs down the stairs of the building and out. A great number of people have evacuated outside the buildings and the shopping area is in a stir. Scars left by the earthquake remains all around. In front of the large-scaled supermarket, there is a long tremendous crack continuing along the pavement. The quake seemed to have quieted, but another big aftershock arrives and people are in tumult. A thick pillar supporting the supermarket floats midway in air, swinging unsteadily due to its foundation cracking. The shopping area is filled with people, amongst the series of commotions.
