Tokyo.. a city that seems to have everything ready for a fresh start. But if you’re a salaryman from the countryside with little savings, no connections, and limited options, life in this capital city might not be as easy as many imagine. A tiny rental room, unfurnished, no kitchen, on the top floor with no elevator.. These are the realities for many people who must stretch every yen just to make it to the end of the month. In this video, I tried living like a newly arrived office worker in Tokyo. I stayed in a small room.. so small I had to think carefully before moving, finding a place to sit, or figuring out how to store things. I spent the whole night there, trying things like sleeping, working, even brushing my teeth and washing my face in a cramped space. The next morning, I walked out to explore a real residential neighborhood where actual Japanese people live—not a tourist area, not a place curated to make foreigners feel that “Japan is convenient.” I’m not here to tell you whether this life is good or bad. I just want you to see it, feel it, and think about it with me.. A life where you have to cut every corner just to stay in this city, is that what we call “rock bottom”? Or is it “survival”?
