2010 Bhai Baldeep Singh Jori Harballabh

Bhai Baldeep Singh played a short solo of Jodi-Pakhawaj at Baba Harballabh Sangeet Sammellan 2010 when Bhai Gurcharan Singh (b. 1915) was honoued with a lifetime achievement award. Everyone (Gurbani Sangeet student) knows about the contribution of Bhai Avtar Singh and Bhai Gurcharan Singh to Gurbani Sangeet and Dhurpad but it is not known that Bhai Gurcharan Singh played the most crucial role in the revival of the oldest school of percussions of South Asia. Here is a display of some scintillating examples from the school —the purity and clarity of bols, their rendition and so on and worth a note. Since 1995, Bhai Baldeep Singh heads the Sultanpur Lodhi - Baaj with instrument Jori, and its original playing technique, being one of the instrument he has revived from near extinction.
