After working as an editor for a motorcycle magazine, she is now a freelance rider and writer. She specializes in discussing motorcycles from a social and cultural perspective. She owns 10 motorcycles, including a Kawasaki GPz900R and a Ninja H2, with over 250,000 km on them. While she usually rides her motorcycle around town, she also enjoys road racing, having participated in races and served as a Suzuka 8 Hours race director. She has been attending the Isle of Man TT races since 1996 as a life's work, and she also examines motorsports culture from an academic perspective.
