Alcatraz pontoon boat fire: Search underway for survivors in San Francisco Bay
A person is dead, and two are missing after a pontoon boat sank near Alcatraz Island, San Francisco Fire Chief Dean Crispen said Tuesday afternoon. Crews responded to a call of a boat fire between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Crispen said 19 people were reported to be on the boat, and that 17 people were initially rescued. One person was declared dead after being rescued, according to fire officials. There were 13 people safe on the shore, three were taken to the California Pacific Hospital, and two people are missing, Crispen said.
