How To Install A Fog Light or Driving Light Kit In 2nd Generation 2002-2006 Honda CR-V
This video shows how to install the aftermarket fog light kit (wiring harness, fog lights, fog light gaskets, and dash switch) that comes with no instructions. The kit in this video is being installed on a 2nd Generation "Facelift" model, 2005 Honda EX CR-V, with 5 speed manual transmission. The same process is used on the earlier 2002-2004 cars. Dimensions of the switch that fit the 2005 and 2006 cars (I don't know if it would also fit the 2002-2004 cars, because I don't have a car of that year to measure: -Width of switch, at the push button front of the switch: 23.4mm (approximately) -Height of the switch, at the push button front of the switch: 43.7mm (approximately) -The push-button portion of the switch must have relaxed rounded corners. If it has sharply rounded corners, it will hang up on the dash and once you push it inward to turn on the fog lights, it will get stuck in the "in" position. See the note below about purchasing a switch that lights up orange, correctly, but has to be modified because it's corners don't fit the dash. Here's a link to the kit being sold on ebay. I'm not affiliated with the seller, or the product. I simply chose it because it contains the correct switch for the 2005 and 2006 model cars, and comes with the wiring harness. https://www.ebay.com/itm/261358579440 Here's a link for a version of the switch that lights up in orange, and matches the dash lighting of the Gen2 CR-V a little better than the bright green lighting in the switch that comes in the kit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/184708171672 IMPORTANT NOTE: This switch has corners that are not rounded enough to fit into the shape of the dash. So to make this switch work, the push button must be pulled off the front of the switch(just pull on it, and comes straight off, and doesn't break), and the 4 corners of the push button need to be heated by a heat gun, or with a flame CAREFULLY and while hot, pushed inward with your fingers to make them more round. Test fit just the push button into the dash, until you have it the correct shape. Total pain in the butt. Once you have it fitting nicely, press it back onto the switch assembly, and then install the entire switch. The electrical plug-in from the fog light kit will plug right into it. When you turn the headlights on, only the horizontal "I'm ready" light will illuminate orange. When you push in the push button, the fog light image will illuminate orange. I added these yellow, 55 watt, Hella bulbs, because I wanted yellow light output for driving in fog and snow during the winter months. I'm not affiliated with this product, and get no revenue from the sale, or link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002E2UK8O?... The gasket material that goes around the lights, and is glued to the bumper, is on ebay: "1mm - 12mm Edge Protection Frame Profile Rubber Edging Trim Seal U-profile Slot" Apologies. The link for the original Honda Fog Light Kit Installation Instruction Manual, in pdf, is no longer good, as it's been taken down by the dealer who had it posted. #honda #crv #cr-v #k24taminews #foglights #hondafoglights
