Norfolk Southern Street Running Train In Ohio, Longest One I Ever Got On This Line! Exploring Abandoned Railroad Spurs Off The Street Runner Line. Truck Goes Around Railroad Crossing Gate & Has To Wait For Train Anyway. 5 Track Railroad Crossing Becomes 3 Tracks. CSX And Norfolk Southern Trains In Franklin & Miamisburg, Ohio, USA. Finally, I got another Norfolk Southern street running train in Franklin, Ohio. This line doesn't run everyday. The street running track is only used by one customer who is at the end of the branch. The longest train that I have ever filmed on the line was 6 cars. This time I got a train with an SD40 and 18 covered hopper cars! This has to be the longest or at least one of the longest ever since the line was cut decades ago. This is the second best street running track in Ohio. The track in Marietta, Ohio goes a lot further down the road and has longer trains. See my videos of Marietta in my Street Running Trains playlist. After the train passed me I filmed an abandoned spur that comes off the track just south of the street running section. There is an abandoned railroad crossing and a switch that goes into two tracks. Everything is still in place including the switch stand. The land that the track is on is for sale and was recently surveyed. I doubt that this track will last much longer. I also got the locomotive returning light and then I got it pulling its remaining train to Moraine, Ohio. I caught the short switching freight train passing what used to be a 5 track railroad crossing in Miamisburg, Ohio. They removed 2 of the tracks since I was last there. Those were coal sidings for a power plant that was also removed since I was there last. I stayed there long enough to catch a CSX southbound freight. This train has 4 locomotives including an SD40-2 and GP38-3. Then I moved to another interesting railroad crossing. CSX and Norfolk Southern share this crossing which is just south of downtown Miamisburg. I got a southbound CSX auto racks train here. Notice the white truck. He went around the downed gate for the NS tracks and then stopped in front of the CSX track. I don't know why he did that because it was illegal and didn't help him any. The NS trains here are considered east and westbound while CSX is considered north and southbound. Best frequencies are 160.230 for CSX, 160.980 for Norfolk Southern and 452.9375 for the end of train device. Filmed Monday, February 23, 2026 in 1080p with 60fps.
