I would not have made an exception in the case of the new Canon 24-240mm f4-6.3 if it did not have RF written on it. Canon has been very pleased lately, both with cameras and lenses, so it is natural to think that an RF lens is a high-quality image, fast autofocus and, the usual, stabilization. They are now putting it in almost all lenses, which is very similar to an apology for its rare presence in the EF line. That is, the lens should definitely not be bad! We started looking, fortunately one came across in the new arrivals. Looking ahead, I will say that the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM did not surprise, but it lived up to expectations. It may not be an L-type, it opens to four only at the wide end and has no weather protection, but when it is screwed onto the EOS R, it is not too annoying. The tandem turns out to be high-quality, and everything for which RF optics are loved is in it. It is fast, tenacious, draws a normal picture without requests for a work of art and allows you to calmly shoot handheld at 240 mm at a shutter speed of 1/40. I know that someone managed to get a clear shot at 1/10. But this is more a compliment to the hands, not the lens. Would I buy it for myself? Yes, but only if I traveled a lot (especially relevant now, I understand) and did not have time to acquire a set of the necessary lenses. Or he participated in some kind of photography reality show, where it is not immediately clear what you will need to shoot, and according to the conditions you can only take one lens with you.
