This Desert Lake Is Almost Completely DRY!!!

The biggest controversy here in New Mexico has to be water management. Elephant Butte reservoir is known to be the biggest lake in New Mexico and is over 100 years old. Stretching over 40 miles across the New Mexico desert, It can hold over 2 million acre feet of water and reach depths of over 150ft when filled to capacity. In its current state it is sitting at roughly 7 miles long with a max depth of 36ft. Elephant Butte reservoir was built for irrigation purposes, but agreements made with Texas demand certain allotments of water every year, causing the water levels to drastically fluctuate.
