The Housemartins - Early Doors in Carlisle, Unreleased LIVE Flag Day Tour 1985 (HQ Audio)

A Christmas present for all the good Housemartins fans 'round the world! On a cold and wintry day in late 1985 the Housemartins arrived in Carlisle to play a gig at the infamous 'Stars & Stripes.' They were touring to promote their debut single for Go! Discs called "Flag Day" which had only been released a few weeks earlier. The release of the full album London 0 Hull 4, and the success that followed, was still many months away. This is the newly discovered and previously unavailable live recording of the performance that night, made in front of a modest but enthusiastic crowd who braved the bitter Cumbrian weather. With exceptional sound quality and a cracking performance, it features the original four-piece lineup of Paul Heaton, Stan Cullimore, Ted Key, and Hugh Whitaker. Found in a tattered Fletchers bag in the back of a forgotten cupboard at the former House of Strangeness, this white label test pressing was carefully dusted off, purified in the waters of the Humber, and digitally revived by the finest artisans available for a reasonable price. This recording is an extremely rare opportunity to hear the young Housemartins just on the cusp of pop stardom. Turn it up and enjoy!
