Horizontal Full-Wave Loop Antennas | Why I Built a 40m Loop

In this video, I explain the benefits and unique characteristics of horizontal full-wave loop antennas. I take a closer look at the classic 80-meter sky loop, including how to build and feed one, then show how its radiation pattern changes from 80 through 6 meters. Then I show the 40-meter full-wave loop I recently installed at my HOA home. I go over the antenna’s shape and radiation patterns, then look at its RBN spots, contacts, and how my signal sounded in Nebraska. If you don’t have enough room for an 80-meter loop, a 40-meter loop may be a practical, efficient, and surprisingly effective alternative. 73, Tim – K5OHY Chapters 00:00 Intro 01:14 80m Sky Loop Basics 02:27 80m Loop Modeling 06:11 My 40m Loop 08:38 40m Loop Modeling 12:30 Contacts and RBN Results 13:06 QSO with WB0RLJ 14:19 Conclusion
