Sarah Morris discusses new works from the "Lunar" series. On show Dec 2020 at White Cube's New York office at 699 Madison Avenue, these new paintings each depict a month on the lunar calendar during 2020. Made at the start of the COVID pandemic, in order to ponder how the marking of time and how forces beyond our control can effect social behavior, the works employ painterly abstraction to point to a system that lies well beyond the frenetic confines of urban living, in expansive space, the infinite and the unknown.
