A tree from the Brazilian Cerrado, also found throughout most of Brazil, belonging to the Fabaceae botanical family. It has the following common names: Goat's Eye Ox's Eye Pau Ripa Pau de Santo Inácio (SC) Angelin Ripa Coronha Petró de Tente (GO). Height: 15 to 20 meters with a broad, leafy crown. It can be used in urban landscaping. It has compound, imparipinnate leaves with 9 to 11 leathery leaflets, pale green on the underside and dense green on the upper side. Flower: Varies from purple to lilac in clusters from October to December. It has seeds enclosed in a globose capsule that, upon reaching maturity, is straw-to-brown in color, opening to expose the red and black seed, containing 1 to 3 seeds.
