FIJI (ImageJ): Measuring Curvature with Kappa

Learn how to use FIJI (ImageJ) to measure curves or bends in an object or structure. Curvature is one of the central morphological features of tissues, cells, and sub-cellular structures. The semi-automated plugin used in this tutorial is called Kappa. From a manual point-click method, a curve is created by an iterative minimization algorithm. Besides curvature measurements, Kappa displays plots of curvature distribution and the corresponding pixel intensity distribution. Kappa was created originally by Kevan Lu and is currently maintained by Hadrien Mary. This curvature analysis program started in 2013 in the Gary Brouhard laboratory at the University of McGill.
