දිඹුලාගල Dimbulagala ⭕ Name of the late chief incumbent of Dimbulagala temple should  be corrected as  " Kithalagama Sri Seelalankara " Thero Dimbulagala hides so much historical information though it is rated as a lesser known attraction . Situated in Polonnaruwa district . If someone come here, access route is  Colombo - Polonnaruwa - manampitiya Dimbulagala . This mountain range was earlier known as " Dhumarakka Pabbatha " and " Udumbara Giri " . Dimbulagala was a main city of Yakkha Tribe who lived in past . Then several kings lived here . King Pandukabhaya was one of them. Golden Era of Dimbulagala was in 12th century when King Parakramabahu II ruled Polonnaruwa. He made arrangements to unite and purify Buddhist Order with the guidance of Maha Kashyapa Sangaraja Thero. In that period Dimbulagala was internationally reputed Buddhist center . With the time kindoms were shifted to other cities and Dimbulagala was ruined and invaded by forest . But in recent past Dimbulagala was re constructed under the guidance of Ven. Kithalagama Sri Seelaalankara thero. He did a remarkable service for the development of this temple , village , and for the betterment of people lived in and around this area. Unfortunately Thero was assassinated by LTTE terrorists .  People rarely come to Dimbulagala directly for exploring . They just couple this journey either with famous Polonnaruwa or  Somawathiya . But most of them just come and visit main temple and return back without exploring other valuable sites. In this video I tried to bring 4 main attractions of Dimbulagala where one can not only visit the temple but also engage in exploring historical places, hiking , and engage in some adventurous activities .  1. Namal Pokuna Archeological site 2. Dimbulagala main Temple 3. Akasha Chaithya / Sky Pagoda 4. Mara veediya & Aushadha Pokuna - Medicinal pond All these places were interconnected as a network of paths through jungle.
