They Scalped His Wife: John Glanton, The Outlaw Indian Fighter Begins His Murder Spree, TX, 1846.

In this episode we read from Samuel Chamberlain's book "My Confession: Recollections of a Rogue," written between 1855 and 1861, and published in 1956. This tells of events in San Antonio, TX in 1846, just before the United States-Mexico war. Chamberlain had come to Texas from Boston, through Illinois, St. Louis, and New Orleans. He was only 16 when he enlisted in the US army. In this episode he meets John Joel Glanton. This book was the basis for Cormac McCarthy's 1985 book: "Blood Meridian."
