According to the textbook, we should use about 5 milliliters of sunscreen for our face, neck, and décolleté. 5 milliliters is a lot. Think about how much pleasure our day cream brings. And it's usually 5 milliliters. And we think that 5 milliliters should be enough for one use on our face, neck, and décolleté. So how long will it take for us to run out of this sunscreen? And how long does it last in our cupboard? Let's answer this question ourselves. But the answer is definitely that we're not using enough sunscreen. Protection from solar radiation isn't just UVB protection. So, it's not just those creams that claim to protect against UVB, which is UVB 50. We also need to protect ourselves from UV-A radiation. This is even the more dangerous radiation. The one we can't see. But it's what causes sun damage in our skin. And it's not just cancerous changes. Let's put "only" in quotation marks, because it's cancerous. But it's not just the health aspect. There are also sun-related changes, including skin thinning. The skin becomes papery. We have changes. There's a kind of solar elastosis, and all of this happens because we're exposed to UVA radiation year-round, which we don't protect ourselves against. Therefore, we should look for sunscreens that not only protect against UVB, but also UVA. So, not just SPF 50, which refers to UV-B radiation, but also IPD and PPD, which refer to UV-A radiation. The second mistake we make is using the wrong day and night care for our skin. Often, we go for a very, very long time without using a moisturizer. Then we go to any drugstore and buy whatever's on sale. Whatever's currently trendy. Whatever we saw in an ad. Or the other way around. To improve our appearance, we reach for the most expensive, top-shelf cosmetics possible. And they won't be good for us either. We need to choose the right cosmetics for our daily skincare routine. How do we do this? Ideally, not blindly, not blindly. It's best to first consult with a reputable cosmetologist. They can help us determine our skin's needs. What our skin is like and what it needs.
