The 1989 Motocross Des Nations was more spectacular than ever before! Dave Thorpe and Jeremy Whatley (UK), American Jeff Stanton and Jeff Ward came prepared to do serious battle. The Americans take this event very seriously and anything less than an outright win would be nothing short of a national calamity to them. With this in mind and in view of the fact that Ward and Thorpe had a heated exchange of words after practice, you can well imagine what the action was like!
