Southwest Coast 4K - Scenic Drive - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

🇧🇷 Scenic drive along the southwest coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I started this drive in Barra da Tijuca, a modern part of Rio de Janeiro known for its wide avenues, high-rise buildings, and long stretches of beach. Compared to the older parts of the city, Barra feels more open and spacious, making it a great place to begin a coastal drive. From there, I headed toward Joá. The road winds between the mountains and the ocean, and some of the views along the way are absolutely stunning. A few minutes later, I reached São Conrado, a neighborhood sitting at the foot of the famous Pedra da Gávea mountain. This area is also known for hang gliding and paragliding, and it's not unusual to see colorful gliders floating above the beach. The drive then continued through Vidigal. Perched on the hillside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it offers some incredible panoramic views of Rio's coastline. Next came Leblon and Ipanema. These neighboring districts are among the most famous in Rio, known for their beautiful beaches, relaxed atmosphere, and vibrant street life. Even from behind the wheel, it's easy to see why these areas are so popular with both locals and visitors. After that, I followed the coastline into Copacabana. With its world-famous beach and iconic black-and-white promenade, it's one of those places that instantly feels familiar, even if you've never been there before. The journey ended in Leme, a quieter neighborhood at the end of Copacabana Beach. Surrounded by the ocean on one side and steep green hills on the other, it felt like the perfect place to finish this drive.
