He banished traditional load-bearing walls in favor of a visible industrial structure: a three-dimensional iron framework, ordered straight from a factory catalogue. This exceptional film decodes the anatomical secrets of a house-as-a-work-of-art that shattered high-society conventions. By placing a central light well and an octagonal mezzanine winter garden beneath a sumptuous dome of iron and stained glass, Horta invented what Le Corbusier would theorize decades later as the "open plan" (plan libre). From the Grand Salon—where double-T columns sprout straight from the parquet flooring—to the dining room adorned with precious Congo woods and Tiffany glass, the film explores the unique intertwining of technical genius and organic, plant-like curves within an infinitely adjustable space.
