Climbing Mt. Rainier Without a Guide | Mountaineering & Camping
👉 SUBSCRIBE to GuyWhoCamps for more adventurous camping trips, amateur tips, and outdoor inspiration! / @guywhocamps A little about me: I'm a dad of three, juggling a busy career while chasing my passion for the outdoors and making every moment count. This July in the middle of a heat dome over the Pacific Northwest, adventure partners Nick, Jason and I set out to climb the iconic Mt. Rainier, also known by its native name, Tahoma by the DC Route. Rising 14,410 feet (4,392 meters) in the Cascade Mountain Range, it’s the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S. and a bucket-list climb for mountaineers 🧗. Over two days we set out from Eatonville, Washington, hit the trail at Mount Rainier National Park’s Paradise lot, climbed over 4K feet and spent the night at historic Camp Muir. From there we roped up and trekked across Ingraham Glacier to Disappointment Cleaver. This was an unguided climb, and safety was our priority. Both of my climbing partners had previous experience on Rainier, while I built my skills with a six-day mountaineering course on Mount Baker last season Big thank you 🙏 to the guides from Rainier Mountaineering International (RMI) and Alpine Ascents for their tireless efforts in maintaining access to this incredible summit. And huge thanks to our brother Milby for the Washington hospitality. 📹 Filmed with the GoPro Hero 12 Black
