【世界初】乗客を乗せた定期船が自動運転🛳️未来すぎる無人フェリーが凄すぎた|国際両備フェリーおりんぴあどりーむせと
I boarded the world’s first ferry to begin commercial service as a fully autonomous vessel. This time, I traveled on the Olimpia Dream Seto, the world’s first autonomous ferry connecting Shin-Okayama Port in Okayama Prefecture with Shodoshima Island in Kagawa Prefecture. Using radar, sensors, and AI technology, the ferry navigates automatically, making decisions as if it were being operated by a human crew. In Japan, maintaining ferry routes to approximately 400 inhabited remote islands has become a major challenge. With declining passenger numbers, crew shortages, and the need to prevent maritime accidents, autonomous navigation is gaining attention as a solution to these social issues. The route between Okayama and Shodoshima is particularly difficult to navigate, with shallow waters, obstacles, and crossing vessels. I experienced this cutting-edge autonomous navigation technology firsthand on an actual ferry journey through these challenging waters. Inside the ship, everything is themed around Chuggington, creating a space that feels like an “amusement park on the sea,” complete with a slide and even a swing. The interior design was created by renowned designer Eiji Mitooka. In the second half of the video, I also explore Shodoshima Island, featuring Olive Park and the famous olive soft-serve ice cream. Even if the scenery and people remain the same, the world of ships has quietly—and steadily—entered the future. Please enjoy the video until the very end.
