Barnsley to Sheffield in 1959 by Dave Cherry
An archive film digitised by Dave Cherry from the original cine film shot by Walt Rennison. It shows Worsbrough Common, Worsbrough Bridge and Barnsley town centre. It then follows a remarkable car journey from Mount Vernon at Ward Green to the centre of Sheffield. The journey on the A61 takes in fascinating scenes of the area before the M1 motorway was built. Steve Rennison speaks to Dave Cherry FACE TO FACE. He explains the workings of the original Japanese, clockwork, cine camera, on which the original film was shot by his Dad. The music is by Dave Cherry.
