Therapist Breaks Down How Souls Games Affect Our Mental Health

Here's a video I made dissecting the gameplay loop of FromSoftware's Souls games such as Dark Souls, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, and seeing how is affects our mental health. As a therapist with an education in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), my approach has more to do with how our thoughts, feelings, and behavior all connect when faced with a situation that sparks an emotion. The loop in these games mainly use a reward system that encourages players, no matter how difficult (except for the DLC apparently), to keep trying to overcome the obstacle in front of them.
