Orthodox Jewish Missing Teen Hikers Found Safe

TOMKINS COVE - Two teenage hikers who went missing in the woods of Bear Mountain State Park Thursday were found safe on Friday. Officials say the 16-year-olds are from Brooklyn and were part of a hiking group of six boys from Camp Karlin Stolin in Highland, Ulster County. The group got separated when four of the boys decided to take a more difficult trail. The four who took the more adventurous trail came out of the woods successfully while the two that took the safer path got lost around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. News 12 is told the two boys stayed awake all night and began walking again at daybreak. They eventually bumped into another hiker Friday morning, borrowed a cellphone and called their parents who then notified police. The two teenagers were evaluated at the scene and released to their parents. The boys then decided to go back to their camp group to finish their trip.
