FAHRRADTOUR GÖTTINGEN – STADTWALD AM KEHR

In the bicycle city of Göttingen everyone knows the city forest above the Schillerwiesen. At the top of the Schiller park it goes through the forest up to the Kehr. There you will find not far from each other the Hainberg Observatory, the Bismarck Tower and the game reserve at the Kehr. Further into the city forest you get to the Kerstlingeröderfeld with its species-rich meadows. From there it continues up to the Mackenröder peak at 427.5 meters and a little further to the Harzblick observation tower. From here you can see the Harz and the lake Seeburg. The way back leads towards Herberhausen. Intermediate stops on the way are the merged sibling beeches and a petrified seabed. The ascent to the highest point on the route is hard but can be reached by bike and is no problem for e-bikes. The paths are partly unpaved and along the demolition edge before Mackenrode. The path along the steep slope is full of roots and only recommended for experienced cyclists. The route described in the video is approx. 30 km long and the height difference is approx. 360 meters.
