Hundreds of massive casuarina and cashew trees are being uprooted from their roots by towering sea waves. These coastal forests, which have historically acted as a crucial barrier against devastating cyclones and floods, are now rapidly vanishing. Spread over hectares of land, this ecological destruction has triggered panic among the residents of 12 villages under Palibandha Panchayat.
