Honduran climate leader César Quintanilla was awarded the Grand Cross with Gold Plaque by the National Congress in recognition of his career and contributions to environmental protection and raising awareness about climate change. During his acceptance speech, he dedicated the award to God and to the environmental defenders working in various communities throughout the country to protect natural resources. Quintanilla warned about the effects of climate change in Honduras, noting that more than 150 municipalities are already facing conditions associated with the Central American Dry Corridor.
