Weekly Maintenance on our 3 year old 120 mixed reef Hello again to you, fellow reef enthusiasts, welcome back to Craft Aquatic I’m Matt G. In todays video I am going to walk you through 1 entire week of maintenance on our 120 gallon, mostly SPS dominated, mixed reef aquarium. I’ll be showing you the daily steps taken to ensure this reef aquarium maintains a consistent trajectory towards success. As most long time reef hobbyists know, we place an emphasis on maintaining water chemistry and quality, which tends to lend it’s way to increased coral growth, color and healthier fish. With that said, there are some little tricks and other, often neglected weekly tasks, that can really help to increase your likely hood of reaching that 5-10 year display tank, which I will discuss in this video. There is nothing more gratifying in the reef hobby, than your when your little slice of ocean inspires curiosity in your friends and your family. Done right, it can really draw out the kid in all of us. There is no better way to ensure a reef display that draws the attention of others, than staying consistent with weekly maintenance. Every year you own a reef aquarium, your list of weekly tasks or husbandry will have to adapt to the changing requirements of your reef ecosystem. This is a 3 year old mixed reef with nearly equal proportions of large polyp and small polyp stony corals, as well as some leathers and gargonia. In this video I am going to focus, only on the tasks performed, consistently on a weekly basis. There are bi weekly, yearly and monthly requirements, that will be discussed in another video.
