Only on the second try did the pike manage to catch the carp and take the hook. Wrapped around the reeds, the pike returns to the spot of attack. The hook is caught on the very edge of the lip, and the bait is looming just in front of its nose. In this position, I pull the pair onto the ice. While fishing with tip-ups, I'm filming underwater footage of the jig fishing. I'm making my first cast – there are no fish nearby yet. Suddenly, a good-sized perch notices the bait and swims toward it. On the second rise, the perch gently grabs the very tip of the bloodworm and doesn't get hooked.
