"Android Warehouse", Steely Dan's Often Disputed Demos | Esoteric Internet
"Before the fall... When they wrote it on the wall... When there wasn't even any Hollywood." Steely Dan's history stretches back over fifty years and more. In those few decades, the often tight-lipped band has accumulated quite a few mysteries. None more so mysterious than the bands twenty plus "Demos" that have circulated since the 1980's. They are rough cuts of perspective songs from Donald Fagen and Walter Becker's pre-Steely Dan period. Despite their dislike of the materiel, it still circulates to this day due to a few legal loopholes. Albums like "The Early Years", "Sun Mountain", and the infamous "Android Warehouse". A demo and album with a long, convoluted history full of mistakes behind it. A history Becker and Fagen preferred remained unknown. Which it still does... to a degree. This video hopes to explain how these albums came to be despite Steely Dan not seeing a penny from them. All songs and legal strictures linking back to one manager from the early 70's. What truly is in the Android Warehouse though? ————— Video Sources (Support the creators/uploaders): -MrHopeTelevision's Channel: https://bit.ly/2Gh0xJn -Jay Black & The Americans 1978: https://bit.ly/2NNHbA0 -Steely Dan live at Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, CA: https://bit.ly/36hQoXt -Steely Dan Plush TV Jazz Rock Party 2000 -Steely Dan - Reelin' In The Years - Live - Old Grey Whistle Test: https://bit.ly/36AlCtw -My Old School - Steely Dan: https://bit.ly/2RWQY9t -Metropolis (1927) - The Cityscape: https://bit.ly/2RGlmDt -Metropolis (opening scenes) with score by Zack Kline: https://bit.ly/37hJRNL ————— Music: MrHopeTelevision - "Don't Let Me In 8 Bit" (Original "Don't Let Me In" by Steely Dan) (00:00-01:25) Frédéric Chopin - "Galop Marquis", preformed by Aya Higuchi (01:25-01:36) MrHopeTelevision - "Mr Sam 8 Bit" (Original "Mr Sam" by Steely Dan) (01:36-05:13) MrHopeTelevision - "Almost Gothic 8 Bit" (Original "Almost Gothic" by Steely Dan) (05:10-09:17) MrHopeTelevision - "All Too Mobile Home 8 Bit" (Original "All Too Mobile Home" by Steely Dan) (09:15-13:13) MrHopeTelevision - "Jack Of Speed 8 Bit" (Original "Jack Of Speed" by Steely Dan) (13:30-14:18) James Walsh Gypsy Band - "The Caves Of Altamira" (14:18-14:42) ————— All copyrighted media, images, and music respective owner(s). ————— Sources: -Info on Steely Dan's album “Android Warehouse”: https://bit.ly/2T3vnNm -Caves of Altamira demo with extra verse: https://bit.ly/35tYA6I -Android Warehouse – Steely Dan: https://bit.ly/2N5Wu6y -Sun Mountain - Steely Dan: https://bit.ly/39RoKn8 -Steely Dan – Sun Mountain (1985, Vinyl): https://bit.ly/37U4Vd0 -Walter Becker / Donald Fagen - The Early Years: https://bit.ly/2RHDwEJ -Metal Leg 4 – Feb. 1988: https://bit.ly/2tLpd9R -Best version of Becker/Fagen pre-Steely Dan demos?: https://bit.ly/2TOeNkM -Anything about Steely Dan: https://bit.ly/3ayVn9I -Interview with Fagen and Becker on CompuServe: https://bit.ly/2FxMTRP -For a Change: https://bit.ly/2QzY4Q9 -Steely Dan's “Caves of Altamira:” before and after: https://bit.ly/2FtBbI3 -Steely Dan (Unoffical Releases): https://bit.ly/38x1TvU -Steely Dan: Walter Becker, Donald Fagen Reunite After Two Decades: https://bit.ly/2T7k46H ————— Did You Really Watch The Video They Say You Did?
