Check out my hymns and songs from ancient Greek, Egyptian, Roman, and Sumerian lyrics on any music platform! www.bettinajoydeguzman.com Odyssey 1.1-10 by Homer. written around 700 BC, from oral traditions reaching back since 1200 BC or earlier. Tell me, Muse, of a much-turning man, who wandered far and wide, after sacking the holy citadel of Troy. Of the many the men whose cities he saw, whose minds he learned. Many the pains in his heart he suffered at sea, while seeking to win his own life and the return of his friends. Yet despite his wishes he failed to save them, for through their own blind folly they perished- fools, who devoured the cattle of Helios Hyperion, so the god denied them their return. Of these things, beginning where you will, Goddess, Daughter of Zeus, tell us.
