Sash Factory in Action – 18 Sashes for the Brooks Job | Mortises + Tenons + Teamwork
Big day in the sash factory. Scott and I built 18 new sash for the Brooks job—9 tops and 9 bottoms. While Israel covered things at the Sarasota project, we got into rhythm in the shop and demonstrated how sash making splits cleanly into two disciplines: • Stiles = Mortises (Scott’s focus) • Rails = Tenons (My focus) We began by sizing and marking material together, then split duties, then regrouped to complete the joinery. It’s a reminder that the sash factory isn’t tied to a building—it’s a method. And our goal this year is to go fully mobile. These sash are made from Spanish cedar and tomorrow, we’re taking them straight to the Brooks house to complete M2P (Mechanics to Primed Frame). Israel will take over sash prep and the project keeps moving forward with purpose. This is how Window Craft flows—one movement into the next. #WindowCraft #SashMaking #MortiseAndTenon #SpanishCedar #BrooksJob #HistoricPreservation #FivePillars #CraftInMotion
