BMW R1300RT Engine Bars Installation

hi all! This short video captures the installation of the BMW R1300RT Engine Protection Bars. I videoed the installation of the left hand side, which took longer as I was exploring how to do it at the same time as doing it. The right hand side I installed without video, and it took just under 20 mins to completed. Really happy with the quality of the engine bars, and the extra mounts on this set will be used later in the year for a set of driving lamps similar to Dinali 4.5 inch lamps. I might even get Dinali if I can find a good deal somewhere. It should be noted these are not the standard bars. They have an extra loop of protection which helps prevent the bike rolling too far and onto the mirrors in low speed falls. They also provide mounting points for things like additional driving lamps. For those asking about highway pegs, I think there are plenty of places on these bars to mount them, although I don't personally use them. BMW Motorrad Part numbers (available from the dealer): Left: 11847106233 Right: 11847106234 Cost in UK: £391.68 for the pair of them. Tools for the Job: Torx drivers for Torx 30 (fog light) and 40 Bar mounts. Socket for 3rd fixing on old protection is 11mm. Torque wrench to nip up the nuts to 30NM as stated in BMW instructions for the standard bars. Fog light nut is 10mm. A pair of snips to remove the zip ties. New zip ties.
