Now as mentioned above the standard setup in a 15/43 configuration. I choose to go for a 14/43 setup after an intense research on this subject. But what does it do? Well, it changes the gear ratio of all gears. Yes, revs are higher, but this has a great benefit. You can now ride in lower speed with a higher gear. On the other hand, top speed will decrease. I actually don’t bother with this, as most countries have speed limits, I don’t do track days and I have knobby tires. Does it have any impact, like chain grinding on the swing arm. So fat not and no rattle noises. All I can say, the bike transforms in behavior. Much smoother and punchier in lower gears. Feels fantastic. Did you ever wonder why the front sprocket has rubber cushioning? It makes the chain run smoother with less noise. My new chain is a D.I.D. 525 ZVM-X2 in gold with 114 links.
