Retrigger rule (RTR) settings in Yamaha style creator | Settings for smooth chord changes - Yamaha

This video explains how to configure the style settings for smooth chord changes in Yamaha arrangers. This is using the Retrigger rule (RTR) in the style creator. It is a setting which configures how the notes in style tracks are changed when chord changes happen. There are default RTR settings for each track in the styles. Retrigger rule has 5 options in it. Retrigger, Retrigger to root, Pitch Shift, Pitch Shift to root and Stop. Retrigger replays the sustaining notes with the new chord notes while the chord is changed on the keyboard. Pitch shift does an auto pitch bend to the new chord notes. Stop will mute the sustaining notes. Pitch shift to root and retrigger to root do the same as in pitch shift and retrigger but the retriggered/pitch bended chords would be in the root position of the new chord. Using these style editing techniques for Yamaha keyboards, the accompaniment patterns can be refined to have smooth chord changes. This video is made using the SX 900 style creator. The same options can be used in Genos style creator and other PSR and tyros models as well.
