Starting to build a 1979 BMW R65 Airhead - Picking it up from Tony and Disassembly

Poor 'ol girl. "Heidi", here, has lived a nice long life in perfect stock form and even runs and rides as it sits now. But not for long.... Whether people are restoring, keeping all original, or modifying...what's important is that these old bikes are staying on the road. Modifying them into what's popular of that era may seem shortsighted or adolescent, but remember, automotive enthusiasts come in waves. The enthusiasts of today are different than those of a decade ago, and will be different than those in the future. What's important is that they keep coming and kids keep learning how to turn a wrench.
