Welcome to the peaceful mountains of Eastern Nepal, where we share the real daily life of an elderly couple living in Solukhumbu, Sotang Rural Municipality. This documentary captures authentic Himalayan village life, traditional cooking, farming, and the emotional reality of surviving in a remote mountain village. For many decades, these grandparents lived happily on the same land where they were born and raised. Their beautiful garden held countless memories from their childhood, youth, marriage, and family life. Sadly, continuous heavy monsoon rain and flood damage have destroyed much of their farmland and garden. Because of the increasing risk of landslides and flooding, they may not be able to live there in the future. Leaving behind a lifetime of memories is heartbreaking. Despite these hardships, they continue their daily routine with strength and hope. Early in the morning, Grandpa and Grandma lovingly care for their animals by milking their buffalo, feeding fresh grass, and looking after their pets. They then return to their temporary shelter, where Grandpa prepares a traditional Nepali pork curry over a wood-fired stove while Grandma harvests fresh organic tomatoes and bananas from their remaining garden. Together, they cook a delicious homemade village meal using fresh ingredients grown on their own land. After sharing lunch together, they continue their peaceful lifestyle by feeding their animals and caring for their farm.
