1968-69 Television Season 50th Anniversary: It Takes a Thief (Wende Wagner guest star)

It Takes a Thief was in high gear in season 2, having become an impressive hit series for ABC. With an exotic series and charming and handsome leading man in Robert Wagner, the casting agents naturally were looking for good actresses of that age-range to visit the show. One of these actresses is one of our sentimental favorites here at Television Vanguard: Wende Wagner (no relation to Robert Wagner.) Today, December 6th marks the anniversary of her birthday... she was born on December 6, 1941. She is best known for her role in the TV series The Green Hornet, co-starring Van Williams and Bruce Lee. That series ran for one season in 1966-1967, and we have a tribute video of that series here at Television Vanguard. Ms. Wagner was not only very lovely, but also an excellent underwater diver. She worked as a stunt double on the TV series Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges. She made guest appearances in other TV series including Wagon Train, Perry Mason and Flipper which lead to her famous role on the TV series The Green Hornet. After Hornet, she was cast in the movie Rosemary's Baby and did a guest appearance on the series Mannix which lead to her guest appearance on It Takes a Thief. This video clip is from that episode, entitled "Get Me To The Revolution On Time", which premiered during season 2 of the series on October 22, 1968. Wende passed away on February 2, 1997 at the age of just 55. She was well remembered during this later stage of her life, and through various Batman/Green Hornet conventions and fan clubs, fans could keep up with her life (this being prior to the expansion of the Internet, AOL, etc.) In fact, one of our Television Vanguard staff received an autograph picture from Wende, via the Batman/Green Hornet fan club in the mid 1990s.... it is, needless to say, one of our treasured pictures that hangs on the wall of our office. RIP in peace dear lady... you are well remembered and loved. This video clip is presented here on YouTube for the entertainment and informational value of the viewer, and no copyright infringement is intended. The DVD box set of this series, It Takes a Thief is simply outstanding, and highly recommended. "Where's the fire, Mr. Shannon?" Enjoy !
