The Buyid dynasty of emirs ruled over various parts of Iraq and western Iran from 934 to 1062. In that time, they had a long lasting--if indirect--impact on the history of the middle east and Islam. By the 1020s, they were past their prime, but not yet gone, so join me as I explore the lands over which they ruled 1000 years ago.
