I'm OCD: Here's What That Means | My Life with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder—or OCD for short—is a mental illness that is comprised of having obsessions, compulsions, or both. But what these things are is a little more complicated, as is the experience of having the condition, which are both things I can speak to and do in this video. I have schizoaffective disorder, a condition where someone experiences symptoms of schizophrenia—such as delusions and hallucinations—but also symptoms of a mood disorder—either major depression, or in my case, bipolar. And I also am diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder as a comorbidity. So join me for this deep dive into the literature and the DSM-5-TR that’s all about OCD and what it means to have it. Good ol’ mental health awareness at it again. Enjoy! My sources: American Psychiatric Association. (2022).
